The Word on the Street

This winter, we surveyed parents and volunteers anonymously
about our Kids Club and Summer Reading Vacation programs.
Take a look at a few of the responses below!

Q: What has kept you coming back to this program?

  • “It is an absolutely amazing program run by thoughtful and kind people. They helped both my children have a place to learn, grow, socialize, and ask questions in an environment of love, trust and understanding. We don't have much family, so having this program gave them that home away from home that all kids need. And it being a free program allowed me to send them.”

  • The relationship my child has with the volunteers and kids in the community, my child has a great time every time they go. I look forward to it every Tuesday.”

  • “The kids look forward to going every Tuesday, won’t let me forget it’s Kids Club. They love all the teachers there.”

Q: In what ways do you think Neighbors' House helps your student "shine to their God-given potential" (our vision statement)?

  • “They give the children support and encouragement to try. Even if they don’t succeed, at least they tried, and I find that very important.”

  • “They love trying out new things now. Kids Club opens the kids up to be more friendly to others.”

Q: What other feedback about this program would you like to share with the Neighbors' House Board of Directors?

  • “I love the program and my child does as well. Thank you to all the volunteers for always making each meeting a successful and fun time! You guys make the holidays less stressful with your help and give the children something to look forward to every week— thank you you all!”

  • “I'm incredibly grateful for this program, as are my children. It has helped our family for years.

  • “Please continue the great work—this program is a blessing to our family and the community.”

Q: What do you look forward to each week, or each summer?

  • “Each week I look forward to the community we have with all the kids, volunteers and staff. All varying in age and experience, it’s a time to come together learn, laugh and support with each other.”

  • “I look forward to the conversations we have with the children. Also getting to know them better by listening to their responses to devotions and read aloud books.”

  • “Talking with kids! How lucky we are to get to know them.”

Q: How does serving with Neighbors' House align with your faith?

  • “Neighbors’ House is important to my faith because it demonstrates and teaches me in so many ways how to live like Jesus and live for Jesus. Serving these kids in hopes for them to succeed and grow helps me practice how God wants me to treat everybody. It puts me in a place to think of others higher than myself- a mindset Jesus calls me to live by!”

  • “God has called all believers to love their neighbor! NH gives me the opportunity to love the families that we serve.

  • “Christ is where the ‘least of these’ are. I better find a way to be there, too. NH is a great opportunity for that.”

Q: What other feedback about this program would you like to share with the Neighbors' House Board of Directors?

  • “I truly appreciate the ministry of Neighbors’ House in that they seek to help kids grow. It isn't simply presenting a Bible story and a cookie. The desire is to help kids reach their potential, e.g., in their reading abilities and in their social skills. Specific children and special needs they might have are discussed among the leaders with the goal of reaching solutions to help them have the most positive experience possible.”

  • “I'm grateful for the opportunity that Neighbors' House gives me to be part of such a worthy ministry and spend time with the kids. They brighten my day and bring a smile to my face.”
